What’s on offer with Vero’s home insurance?
Maxi Cover
Maxi cover is Vero’s most comprehensive home insurance policy. Benefits include:
- Full replacement for causes other than natural disasters
- Vero will rebuild your home to an as-new condition, should your home be damaged or destroyed
- Stress payments in the instance of a total loss to the home (up to $5000)
- Cover for gradual hidden damage (up to $3000)
- Cover for loss or damage to power generation equipment (up to $10,000)
- Alternative accommodation if your home is deemed uninhabitable (5% of sum insured or $30,000 whichever is greater)
- Landscaping (up to $5000)
- Retaining walls (up to $80,000)
- Power generation equipment (up to $10,000)
- Legal liability cover of up to $2 million
- One excess per event
With Vero’s Maxi cover, you may also be eligible for SumExtra, which, in the event of a claim, means you receive 10% extra on top of your insured sum. Additionally, with SumExtra, if your home is completely destroyed by something other than a natural disaster and your sum insured isn’t enough to fix it, Vero will pay the full cost no matter what it is.
Flexi Cover
Flexi cover is Vero’s most affordable home insurance policy, covering just the necessities. Benefits include:
- Should your home be damaged or destroyed, Vero will repair or replace it taking into account any wear and tear
- Cover for 14 specific events, unless upgraded for an additional fee
- If your home suffers damage from a natural disaster that is more than the EQ Cover limit, Vero will pay the difference, up to your sum insured
- Alternative accommodation if your home is deemed uninhabitable (5% of sum insured or $30,000 whichever is greater)
- Landscaping (up to $2500)
- Legal liability cover of up to $2 million
- One excess per event
What’s on offer with Vero’s contents insurance?
Vero has a one event excess policy, meaning you only pay one excess on multiple insurance claims for the same event. And both policies cover your items if damaged or lost when in transit.
Maxi Cover
Maxi cover is Vero’s most comprehensive contents insurance policy. Key benefits include:
- Items replaced to as-new condition
- Covers your contents for sudden or accidental loss or damage
- Alternative accommodation if your home is deemed uninhabitable (up to one month for tenants) (up to 12 months for owner-occupiers)
- Cover if your contents are lost or damaged anywhere in New Zealand
- Items in a storage facility are included in your cover
- Covers gifts temporarily at your home (e.g. Christmas presents for others)
Flexi Cover
- Items replaced to as-is condition, taking into account wear and tear
- Covered for 12 specific events only, unless you upgrade for an additional cost
- Alternative accommodation if your home is deemed uninhabitable (up to one month for tenants) (up to 12 months for owner-occupiers)
What’s on offer for landlords?
Vero offers two home insurance options for landlords: Maxi and Flexi. A Landlord’s Extension policy can be added to either policy for a more comprehensive option.
Maxi House
- Cover for accidental damage caused by the home’s occupants, up to the sum insured
- Methamphetamine contamination cover (up to $50,000)
Flexi House
- Cover for damage caused by specific events, including fire, burglary, collision by a vehicle, natural disasters, storms or floods
Maxi House + Landlord’s Extension
- Cover for accidental damage caused by the home’s occupants, up to the Sum Insured
- Methamphetamine contamination cover (up to $50,000)
- Cover for deliberate damage caused by tenants (up to $30,000)
- Cover for landlord’s furnishings (up to $20,000)
- Loss of rent due to loss covered by the policy (up to 12 months)
- Loss of rent due to non-payment by tenants
Flexi House + Landlord’s Extension
- Cover for damage caused by specific events
- Cover for Landlord’s furnishings (up to $5000)
- Cover for loss of rent in various circumstances (up to 12 months)
