As physical banks have disappeared from our high streets, ironically, we’ve become even more reliant upon their services. Cash is going the way of the chequebook, so we’re increasingly using the banks’ tech to swipe, tap and click through our everyday lives.
But while apps and online banking have given us more control over our finances, the level of service offered by our banks can sometimes fall short. Then there are those infuriating fees and charges, on top of the normal interest rates.
Because of these differences, Canstar does annual research to gauge customer satisfaction in the banking industry. This year SBS Bank, ANZ, ASB Bank, BNZ, Kiwibank, The Co-operative Bank, TSB Bank and Westpac were compared on a range of categories, including: Customer Service, Fees and Charges, Product Rage and Interest Rates.
In our survey of 5250 New Zealanders, one bank stood ahead of the rest: the SBS Bank, winner of Canstar’s Most Satisfied Customers Award 2020.
The award is a great achievement for the challenger bank. Due to its smaller size, the SBS Bank did not appear in our 2019 ratings. But thanks to its release of new mortgage and credit card products, over the past year, the Invercargill-based bank’s profile has risen significantly. To the point that SBS Bank has taken out our top award!
So if you’re after a great deal on your banking, from competitive rates and fees, to consummate customer service, it’s in your interest to change … to the winner of Canstar’s Most Satisfied Customers Award, the SBS Bank.
