Car insurance covers your whole car, from the front bumper to the rear tow bar … but that’s where it stops. If you own a caravan, you’ll need to arrange separate caravan insurance to protect it from theft, fire or accidental damage.
It’s also worth noting that not all caravan policies offer contents cover as standard. So when comparing policies, you need to also factor in the amount of contents insurance offered by a policy, and any extra costs involved when purchasing separate contents cover.
Here’s an overview of the different caravan insurance providers and the products they offer in the New Zealand market:
Brand Name | Online Claims | Contents Cover Max | Legal Liability Max | Features |
AA Insurance | No | $3000 | $20 million |
AMI | No | Must be purchased as a policy extra | $20 million |
Covi | Yes | $10,000 | $10 million |
Star Insure | Yes | $3000 | $20 million |
Tower | No | Must be purchased separately as an extra | $25 million |
Information correct, as of 05/04/24.
